The Pen of the Future -Every year in Feb. there is an event in California called Demo. This event is where startups get to pitch their products to venture capitalists. the catch is they have exactly 6 minutes to do the presentation. There are always lots of great products but the pen from LiveScribe blew me away. Dolphin Boat -You have to see the videos to believe what this thing can do. It is part wave runner, part submarine, part boat and part dolphin.
I saw this at the Vancouver Boat Show. It is incredible.
Of course it is $75, 000; but hey, if the volumes go up, maybe it will come down to $70,000.

Happiness Is a Choice, Not an Emotion -“Happiness is a choice, not an emotion.”
I believe this quote can be attributed to Joel Osteen. I say this because I actually heard a radio program where the host was paraphrased something she read from Joel’s most recent book. I’d have to read it to make sure.
Aside from that, I shared with my ezine subscribers [...] more »
How to Blog About Products & Services Without Selling Your Soul -I just love seeing how others explain what podcasting is and how they reference my breakfast seminar in the process. These 3 examples are ways you can blog about an event or affiliate program you’re a part of and still give value to your blog readers.
Take a look at the examples below:

Bread and Butter Pickles -Boxes filled with cucumbers from the farmers market, scores of mason jars, big pots, lots of activity in the kitchen, fresh homemade pickles. These are some of my memories from summers growing up. My grandmother (dad's mother) and my parents used to pickle a lot when I was a kid. My dad's favorite was spicy carrot and cauliflower pickles (I'm still waiting for the recipe); my favorite was sweet watermelon rind pickles (can't find watermelons with thick enough rinds to make these anymore). more »
Sloppy Joes -Just hearing the words "sloppy joe" from my mother used to send us kids into a tizzy. There was something wonderfully fun about getting to eat a burger/sandwich that was messy by design. I've been waiting to make this when my nephew was in town because sloppy joes really are a quintessential kid food. Well the kid is here, and after he explained to me that he didn't like tomatoes with his hamburger and he wanted his onions on top, and I explained to him that sloppy joes are made with the o more »

Death Orb, the official commercial -We have a little “easter egg” in Qore called Death Orb, which is actually the most fun game on the planet. So we made an ad for it, because the world needs to know.

That’s what she said! -I just bought this shirt (in girl size, of course). I don’t usually buy slogan t-shirts, but it’s fitting. This is becoming my catch phrase, apparently, much to Ryan’s (and probably Patrick on Tekzilla’s) dismay. It’s just. So. Funny.
To me, anyway.

Quality & Longevity: The Life of Joseph Juran -In March, Joseph Juran passed away at 103 years of age. Some of his accomplishments:
Helped establish the field of quality management, which lead to the development of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
Created the 80-20 rule, otherwise known as the Pereto principle.
But what struck me most was the power of his longevity:
His marriage lasted 81 years.

Come On, Let's Go (All The Way Blue Jays) -I fear this plea will fall on deaf ears. Even with the return of Cito our Toronto Blue Jays are 13 games back of the AL East leading Tampa Bay Rays (that sounds funny) and we're 9 games back of the Red Sox for the wildcard. It sure doesn't seem as if the Jays will be going all the way in 2008.

“Global disruption” is the new global warming -Leading scientist John Holdren says “global warming” is not the correct term to use; he prefers “global disruption”. “‘Global warming’ [is] misleading. Newbie Unplugged Again -It's that time of year again -- my annual unplugging! We're heading to the cottage for a much-needed vacation. And by "cottage" I mean the commune I grew up on (see earlier posts for the whole sordid, raised-by-hippies story), which is in Ontario's Dead Zone -- no cell phone reception, no internet access, and we're staying in my mom's old commune house, which has no running water and no electricity. Yeah, it's pretty Amish. The upside to this primitive living is that I'm forced to more »
Newbie discovers Skype! -Someone just asked me how much time I spend in Second Life on a weekly basis. My immediate answer: not much, hardly any time at all. My thoughtful answer: about 1 hour minimum, maybe 6-8 hours max when I'm attending author events. That doesn't seem like a lot until you type it out like that, but it also doesn't *feel* like a lot. Maybe because when I'm in-world I'm so engaged with other people I don't notice the time passing. For example, I spent more »
